A panoramic view of the roofs of Paris and the Eiffel Tower while remaining safe and without obstructing the panorama. This is what we realized during our last building site: a railing pose in low profile on a housing building in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Origin of the project
This project began in 2016 following a request for consultation of architectural firm Vincent Eschalier for his customer ESPRIMM promoter. It resulted in several meetings to discuss technical and aesthetic points, but also on the pose and reference. The firm wanted a secure place where people could admire the great view.
The construction site
The structural work began in July 2016. The project involves the construction of eight storeys and two basements for residential use.
Our work consisted of the installation of 220 linear meters of railings on the balconies of the facade on the street side, courtyard side, but also on two roof terraces. The particularity of this pose resides in the shape of balconies “in diamond point”, offset at each level, making the implementation delicate.
The railings were then laid in 2017 following the completion of technical plans, as well as a principle and planning of installation.
Laying railings
Two types of implementation were carried out during this project:
- On the street-side facade, the installation of Evasafe tempered laminated glass railings was carried out on the slab. This corresponds to our solution Garda A Sabco allowing a pose the English way. The windows were lifted individually using a vacuum lifter and immediately rebated.
- On the courtyard and on the terraces, this time it was a French pose, on slab, corresponding to our Garda F Sabco solution.
Crane supply on front façade and manual implementation. The wide-width glazings, measuring 1800 mm, were favored with little clearance (10 mm) and chamfered joints on the corner joints in order to take care of the aesthetics of the façade.
A Moabi grooved handrail with a diameter of 42 was added on the entire site, mainly for aesthetic purposes.
Finally, the facade on the street and the undersides of the balconies were entirely covered with white corian concealing our profiles and making the building very elegant
The Evasafe Tempered Laminated Glass
For this project, we used Evasafe 10-10 / 3 Tempered Laminated Glasses, with the characteristic of being hydrophobic.
Indeed, thanks to our manufacturing process in laminated glass Evasafe, our guardrails placed outside have no risk of delamination over time. It’s resistant to moisture unlike laminated PVB. These do not require any protection.
